Apple Tries New Features, Discounted Prices for Subscriptions from App Store Developers
JAKARTA - Apple has announced a new feature in the app store, namely contingent pricing, which it says will give application developers a new way to attract and retain customers.
“Subscription pricing in the App Store is a new feature that helps you attract and retain customers, allowing you to give customers a discounted subscription price as long as they are actively subscribed to another subscription,” Apple wrote in an announcement on the developer's official website.
So simply put, this contingent pricing will allow developers to offer discounts to customers who have subscribed to services either in their apps or in apps owned by other developers.
For example, Apple explains that one developer can entice new users to join by offering discounts if they actively subscribe to subscriptions from other developers.
“It can be used for subscriptions from one developer or two different developers,” the tech giant further explained.

Currently, Apple is still in the testing phase involving several selected developers, before launching it to more developers in the coming months.
Via 9to5Mac, Apple explained that these competitive discounts will be highly visible to customers both in the App Store and “in off-platform marketing channels” so they can easily find and understand the benefits.
