Journalists Of Photo Beaten, Journalists Union Urges Perpetrators Who Are Also Israeli Police To Be Dismissed
JAKARTA - The Israeli journalist Union urged its country's military to investigate the attack on photojournalist Anadolu Mustafa Alkharouf and asked police officers involved to be temporarily dismissed until the investigation was completed.Through the X page, the union highlighted an attack it called the 37th attack on Arab journalists since October 7 when Hamas attacked southern Israel.They showed that most of the attacks on Arab journalists were carried out by Israeli security forces who prevented journalists from carrying out their duties. The Union, reported by Anadolu, also asked police officers who attacked Alkharouf to investigate.The attack on photo journalist Anadolu took place on December 15 while on duty in East Jerusalem.Initially Israeli forces grabbed a gun and then kicked Alkharouf until he fell when a group of Palestinians gathered near Al Aqsa Mosque when Friday prayers were restricted.Alkharouf, who was badly beaten on the face and body, was taken to the Makassed Sakti House by ambulance.
Israeli police also attacked camerakeeper Faiz Abu Rumaila who was with Alkharouf. Israeli authorities said police seen in the video attacking journalist Alkharouf had been released.
