Ngurah Rai Airport Police Prepare Special Security For Passenger Surge
JAKARTA - The Resort Police for the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Area, Tuban, Badung, Bali has prepared a special security scheme to deal with a surge in the number of passengers during the Christmas and New Year 2024 holidays.
Head of the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Area Resort Police AKBP Ida Ayu Wikarniti stated that the most important thing about efforts to deal with the 2024 Christmas and New Year holidays is to regulate traffic due to the density of vehicles and also passengers who enter or enter Bali via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.
"The potential for vulnerability is that there are definitely two traffic jams and the second thing that often happens is that a lot of baggage is swapped or left behind," he said, quoting Antara.
The Head of Wikarniti Airport Police explained that mapping and traffic engineering scenarios are very important considering the dense number of passengers where the Airport Police predicts that 1.2 million people will enter and enter Ngurah Rai Airport at the momentum of Christmas 2023 and at the end of the year it is predicted that it will increase more than that number.
This is based on data on passenger crossings owned by the Airport Police. The data shows that there is a very significant increase in passengers from 2022 to 2023 where in 2022 the number of passengers will reach 12,519,809 people, while the number of passengers until November 2023 will reach 19,492,983, so it is predicted that it will reach 20 million people by the end of the year.
The density of passengers at the end of this year is also predicted to increase sharply considering General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Handy Heryudhitiawan stated that his party received 605 additional flight submissions from airlines for Christmas and New Year 2024, consisting of an additional 302 arrival flights and 303 departure flights.
Wikarniti said that for services, the Airport Police have prepared Integrated Service Posts in coordination with Asvec Angkasa Pura, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Air Base, Udayana Military Command, KKP, Health and other stakeholders.
The Airport Police itself, he said, prepared 55 personnel to serve during the Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 periods in the Great Candle Operations. This number is sufficient and in accordance with the number of members owned by the Ngurah Rai Airport Area Police.

He also hopes that there will be no accumulation of passengers so as not to cause long traffic jams along the entry and exit routes of Ngurah Rai Airport.
Even if the flight schedule is fairly tight, his party will make traffic engineering efforts.
"We are still waiting for the existing flight, whether the schedule will be rescheduled because indeed the flight for the morning clock path is quite empty, starting to get crowded at 11 pm. So if there are more flights in the morning, it will explain a little more problems, but if it piles up at certain hours then we will carry out traffic engineering to unravel the congestion that may occur," he said.
