50 Rohingya Immigrants Who Landed In East Aceh Today Had Run And Hiding In The Commonwealth
EAST ACEH - As many as 50 Rohingya immigrants landed in Seuneubok Baroh Village, Darul Aman District, East Aceh Regency, after being unloaded from a ship in the waters of the area.East Aceh Police Chief AKBP Andy Rahmansyah said the whereabouts of the Rohingya immigrants were known on Thursday at around 03.45 WIB."The information we obtained stated that they were unloaded from the ship on Kuala Idi Cut Beach. Then they ran and hid in the bushes until they were finally found," he said in East Aceh, as reported by Antara, Thursday, December 14.The police chief said that initially 43 Rohingya immigrants were found. After sweeping the beach, finally seven more people were found, bringing the number of illegal immigrants to 50 people."Currently, dozens of Rohingya immigrants, all of whom are male, are being secured at the Idi Cut Fish Auction Place (TPI)," said Andy Rahmansyah.Until now, it is not known the plan of the local government (Pemda) regarding Rohingya immigrants in East Aceh. The follow-up to their existence is waiting for the results of coordination with UNHCR, an international agency that manages cross-border refugees.The wave of arrivals of Rohingya immigrants to Aceh Province has been repeated since November 2023. Prior to East Aceh, hundreds of Rohingya immigrants landed in Sabang City, Aceh Regency, and Pidie Regency.
Until now, Rohingya immigrants in Aceh Province have reached 1,734 people. They are currently accommodated in a number of locations in the western tip province of Indonesia.
