Map 17 Vulnerable Groups Losing Their Rights In The 2024 General Election, Komnas HAM Performs Monitoring

JAKARTA - The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) has mapped 17 groups that are vulnerable to losing their rights in the implementation of the 2024 General Election. This figure is based on the results of monitoring in the last half of the year.Komnas HAM chairman Atnike Nova Sigiro said the vulnerable groups consisted of prisoners in correctional institutions, disabilities, and young voters."So, Komnas HAM will also carry out and have carried out various monitoring to capture the picture of the readiness to organize elections and the problems faced both before the election and later during the election," Atnike said in a discussion at the Komnas HAM Office, Jakarta, Wednesday. The efforts made by Komnas HAM involved election organizers by holding a series of activities to ensure that democratic parties run inclusively.Efforts to ensure that inclusive elections are followed up by Komnas HAM by declaring the Human Rights Friendly Election some time ago together with the General Election Commission (KPU) and the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) and inviting the government, law enforcement officials, and political parties.According to him, this was done so that awareness about the importance of luber jurdil and inclusive elections could grow.
In addition to anticipatory steps and field monitoring, Atnike said that this year's National Human Rights Commission has also prepared Standard Norms and Regulations (SNP) regarding the rights of vulnerable groups in elections. He hopes that the SNP can be a joint reference for election organizers and election participants, including candidates for leaders in the 2024 presidential election.Atnike said that Komnas HAM was also trying to anticipate that the problems that occurred in the previous election would not happen again in today's election, such as the cases of hundreds of election organizers who were sick.To anticipate this, Komnas HAM held meetings with stakeholders including related ministries/agencies such as the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) or Bawaslu so that similar problems did not occur.
