Residents Of Cianjur Scattered Rocked By An Earthquake M 2.6, Schools Closed
A 2.6 magnitude earthquake (M) rocked Cianjur Regency, West Java, Wednesday, December 13. Residents scattered out of their homes as a result of the tremors. Even a number of schools sent their students home.
The earthquake felt strong and had caused a rumbling sound in a number of sub-districts such as Cianjur, Cugenang, Warunkondang, and Pacet.
"We have deployed officers to collect data related to the damage caused by the earthquake that occurred at around 11.11 WIB. Until now, there have been no reports of damage caused by the earthquake," said Asep Sukma Wijaya, Head of BPBD Cianjur Regency, when contacted Wednesday, December 23, confiscated by Antara.
Based on BMKG reports, the earthquake was centered at 6.90 South Latitude (LS) and 107.12 East Longitude (BT) or eight kilometers southwest of Cianjur Regency.
Asep appealed to residents to remain vigilant and not panic because based on information from the BMKG the earthquake that occurred did not cause any damage
"We hope that there will be no damage caused by the earthquake, which since the last week has often occurred," he said.

Meanwhile, due to the strong earthquake, a number of elementary and junior high school students in Cianjur City were forced to be sent home to avoid unwanted things, especially many students who were still traumatized by last year's earthquake.
