Velerina has won a bachelor's degree in International Relations at the University of Indonesia (UI). Not only known as a journalist, Velerina is also known as an Environmental Ambassador, as well as Communication and Sustainability Advisor for the Government of Indonesia.

In addition, Velerina once won the search contest for the DKI Jakarta tourism ambassador to become the None Jakarta in 1999. Not only that, he also became Runner Up Puteri Indonesia and Miss ASEAN Indonesia in 2005.
