It's Been In The Campaign Season, DPR Still Don't Forget To Continue Socializing And Guarding Elections

JAKARTA - At the end of his tenure, the DPR RI continues to make preparations for the 2024 General Election. The DPR is considered to have carried out good socialization related to the election stage process.

The DPR has collaborated with the Indonesian Bawaslu to conduct election socialization in the regions. In addition, the DPR has also prepared a regulatory device to oversee the legitimacy of this election.

Public policy observer Davis Roganda Parlindungan admits that elections are often accompanied by problems. This is where the role of the DPR in guarding and preparing elections is crucial.

"If we look at this election from before, it always causes problems both at the organizers' level and in the community itself. Especially in 2019, the polarization was felt. Well, this DPR's task is very important and crucial. Because the election must be maintained," said Davis, Tuesday 12 December.

He also considered the role of the DPR to be quite good. According to him, the DPR has done many things, from the level of socialization, structuring to drafting regulations related to elections.

"So far, in this political year the role of the DPR is quite good, yes. This means that from the level of socialization, structuring to the preparation of related regulations. But the most important thing is credibility and legitimacy that must be maintained," he said.

He also encouraged the DPR to continue to supervise. There are phases of election preparation that need to be monitored.

"Of course, the supervisory function of the legislature towards election organizers is something that must be considered. So far it is still safe. Now in these preparatory phases that need to be monitored," he explained.

In addition, the DPR must also face a number of challenges. He reminded that credibility and legitimacy in the election are well maintained.

"I think the challenge that the DPR will face is that there are some classic problems. If I look at today's society, we are more mature politically. And I believe that when credibility and legitimacy are good, the system is healthy," he said.

The same thing was also conveyed by students from Jakarta, Mufid. Mufid assessed that the DPR was quite adaptive in conducting election socialization among young people.

"Adaptive. Why adaptive? Because of its development, it is more down to young people. Careless about education for young people. So we know that political elements are like this. It turns out that it's not just parents, but young people are also involved," he said.
