Kominfo And Opsel Make Anticipatory Efforts To Face The Increase In Traffic During Nataru
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology asked cellular operators (opsel) to make anticipatory efforts, in the face of increased traffic during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holiday period 2023/2024.
"For example, Telkom has prepared a capacity of 49.7 Tbps and an expansion of the backbone capacity of 28.3 Gbps. Then Telkomsel has also increased and prepared a gateway capacity of gprs support nodes (GGSN) to 13.21 Tbps and internet capacity of 11.08 Tbps," said Director General of Information and Public Communication Usman Kansong at his press conference on Monday, December 11.
Not only Telkomsel, Usman also mentioned that Indosat Ooredoo Hutchinson or IOH will also increase its internet network capacity by 50 percent larger than when it was normal.
"Similarly with XL which adds network strength 2 times larger than usual. Then Smartfren which adds 6 percent of its normal capacity," he added further.
The Ministry of Communication and Informatics will also monitor spectra at several points such as ports, airports, and terminals that may experience increased traffic. This is done to ensure that no disturbances occur due to increased traffic during Nataru 2023/2024.
