Francis Ngannou Is Considered Unsuitable To Occupy The Top 10 WBC Ranks
JAKARTA The WBC boxing body's decision to include Francis Ngannou in the top 10 has drawn controversy. The fighter is considered unfit for this status.
Ngannou got ranked on the WBC after making his boxing debut against heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. Even though his performance received praise from many parties, it still did not cover the fact he lost the duel.
The former boxing world champion in two classes, olak Maignaggi, was one of those who praised Ngannou's performance against Fury. However, he considered the rankings obtained by Ngannou completely groundless.
"Good performance from Ngannou. However, (the ranking) is inappropriate. You can't go through one game and lose and get ranked in the top 10," he said, quoted by the Mirror.

Being ranked in the top 10 makes Ngannou now technically allowed to fight for the title of world champion.
mengatakan bahwa keputusan WBC memasuk Ngannou ke dalam peringkat ke-10 dan bersanding dengan nama-nam besar merupakan langkah sangat politik. Ia menyebut Ngannou butuh kemenangan untuk berada di sana.
"This is a political step to get people to speak so that the WBC makes headlines. You have to win to get into that ranking," he said.
Ngannou is expected to return to boxing next year, but he won't be facing Fury anytime soon.
The reason is, Fury will fight Oleksandr Usyk to fight for the undisputed world title in February 2024.
The clash between Fury and Usyk also has a rematch clause. That means Ngannou is likely to pursue other opponents, such as Anthony Joshua or Deontay Wilder, for the next boxing fight.
