On Duty At 730 TPS, Sorong City KPU Needs 5,110 KPPS Personnel

SORONG - The General Election Commission for Sorong City, Southwest Papua said it needed 5,110 personnel of the Voting Organizing Group (KPPS) in the 2024 General Election.

The Daily Executive of the Chairperson of the Sorong City KPU, Hilman Djafar, in Sorong, Friday, said that the thousands of KPPS members will later serve at 730 polling stations (TPS).

"Later on, each TPS will serve as many as seven members of the KPPS," explained Hilman Djafar during a coordination meeting with the District Election Committee (PPD) and the Voting Committee (PPS) throughout Sorong City.

Hilman said that the coordination meeting activity was intended in order to equalize understanding of KPU regulations for all PPD and PPS members in terms of the formation of KPPS so that it was really in accordance with the set schedule and stages.

Prospective members of the KPPS, he said, must meet a number of requirements such as a health certificate, a drug-free certificate, a criminal acquittal from the court and a police certificate (SKCK).

In addition, candidates for KPPS members are currently not members or administrators of political parties (political parties).

The Sorong City KPU has coordinated with health facilities to provide services to prospective KPPS selection participants who will check their health.

Hilman added that the recruitment process for KPPS members was carried out openly by taking into account the competence, capacity, integrity, and independence of candidates, because they would later spearhead the voting implementation in the 2024 Simultaneous Elections.

Unlike the previous elections, where candidates for KPPS members are only proposed names, but in the 2024 General Election, strict selection will be carried out.

Registration for KPPS recruitment begins with file entry from December 11 to December 16.

"Registration of candidates for KPPS members is open for five days. Candidates are at least 17 years old and a maximum of 55 years old," he concluded, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, December 9.
