Indonesian Citizens In Egypt Will Use Their Right To Choose On February 10, 2024

JAKARTA - Indonesian citizens (WNI) in Egypt will exercise their voting rights in the 2024 General Election earlier, namely on February 10, "said Head of the Cairo Overseas Election Committee (PPLN) Muhammad Amin Abdul Samad.

The voting will be held at the Voting Station (TPS) of the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo. Voting with the Mobile Voice Box (KSK) will be held on February 9 in Mansoura and Alexandria.

"The postal method will begin with sending ballots on December 25, 2023, covering various areas outside Cairo such as Sharm El-Sheikh, Hurghada, Aswan," Amin said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, December 8.

The number of Indonesian citizens throughout Egypt in the Cairo PPLN Permanent Voter List (DPT) reached 11,209 people.

If voters are disabled or sick, the committee will help them channel their voting rights.

"As long as the person concerned has registered his name in the DPT, we will serve them to channel their constitutional rights in accordance with applicable regulations," he said.

Regarding election logistics, Amin said that his party was still waiting for delivery from the Central KPU, even though PPLN had prepared boxes and ballot booths.

In addition to socializing with Indonesian Embassy staff and Indonesian migrant workers (PMI), PPLN has also distributed election information to students, the most in number in Egypt.

"PLN visited the associations of students and their parent organizations, namely PPMI Egypt," said Amin.

So far, he said, PPLN has not encountered any significant obstacles when collecting voter data.

"PLN is still collecting data, especially for prospective new students arriving in Egypt after the DPT is set for June 20, 2023," said Amin.

"There is a lot of energy needed for members of the Cairo PPLN to record the camaba (new student candidates) who moved to choose to be included in the DPTb (Additional Voter List)," he said.
