Cak Imin Sentil Pre-Employment Card: Watching YouTube Paid, What's The Urgency?
JAKARTA - Candidate for vice president number 1, Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin), criticized the Pre-Employment Card program run by President Joko Widodo's government. According to him, the implementation of the program was ineffective.
In fact, the Pre-Employment was originally intended as a training program or apprenticeship of prospective workers financed by the government, in collaboration with a number of institutions.
However, in its implementation in 2020, the recipient of the Pre-Employment Card only underwent online viewing or tutoring training.
"The purpose of Pre-Employment is actually for apprenticeship. Well, how come this is watching YouTube, paying, what is currently happening. Pre-employment is watching YouTube paid for, what makes YouTube paid for. In fact, what is the urgency? The transition between education world graduates from SMK, SMA, S1 who will go to the world of work," said Cak Imin in launching 1 million Anies-Muhaimin Village Spokesperson in Cibubur, East Jakarta, Thursday, December 7.
The general chairman of the PKB views that the state money issued in the Pre-Employment Card program should be aimed at preventing the industry that is the target of apprenticeship from going bankrupt because it is supported by the state program. However, he views that the target has changed now.
Therefore, if Cak Imin and Anies win the 2024 presidential election, he promises to evaluate the Pre-Employment Card program comprehensively.
"It was evaluated completely. Because actually the basic idea I was involved in at that time. The basic idea is the transition from the world of education to the world of work. So, competency skills are needed so that people can be absorbed well in industry and other jobs. But unfortunately, it only produces people watching YouTube today," explained Cak Imin.

One of the evaluations, Cak Imin will create a trade program in the Pre-Employment Card by involving participants for direct practice in the field.
"We have to work with the industrial world for the government. The budget is helping with the apprenticeship. This apprenticeship can't learn just by looking at records but people practice. It doesn't take long, it's about 3 months, 4 months, 6 months, but people can directly function in the industry," he added.
