BNPB Distributes Operational Assistance For Disaster Management Of Marapi Eruption

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) distributed operational assistance for the handling of the Mount Merapi eruption disaster amounting to Rp250 million.

Deputy for Rehabilitation and Reconstruction of BNPB Jarwansah said the funds were for operational support for handling the emergency of the natural disaster of the eruption of Mount Marapi.

He said the BNPB team came to Agam Regency in addition to distributing aid to review the current condition of the eruption of Mount Marapi.

"We also see how disaster management is, especially for victims," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 6.

He hopes that the local Agam Regency Government and BPBD can improve in preparing and preventing victims in the event of a disaster.

Meanwhile, Agam Regent Andri Warman thanked BNPB for his attention to Agam Regency, especially for the eruption of Mount Marapi.

With the presence of BNPB, the Agam Regency Government and Agam BPBD can coordinate with each other, both in prevention, handling and disaster management.

"With this coordination, the Agam Regency Government, especially the Agam BPBD and existing volunteers, can focus more on handling natural disasters," he said.

The total number of Marapi climbers recorded was 75 people, with details of 21 climbers climbing from the Koto Baru route and 54 people climbing from the Batu Palano route.

Of the 75 people, 52 survived and 23 died. The search for victims of the eruption of Mount Marapi was carried out by the joint SAR team.
