The North Sumatra Regional Police (Polda) dispatched a team of divers to look for victims in Lake Toba, after a flash flood and landslide in Simangulempe Village, Bakti Raja District, Humbahas Regency.

"There are five personnel from the North Sumatra Regional Police's Dit Polairud and one unit of the ship that was dispatched," said Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Police, Kombes Hadi Wahyudi in Medan, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 6.

Hadi said the dive team was assigned to look for victims in the waters of Lake Toba.

"These five diver personnel have joined the SAR Team for the search for victims who have not been found," he said.

Hadi said that previously personnel had found three victims of flash floods and landslides in Humbahas.

"The three victims found were Diana Sinaga (45) (light injuries), Dian Lubis (19) (died) and Tiamin Sinambela (78) (died)," he said.

In addition, the North Sumatra Police deployed a K9 unit or sniffer dog to help personnel search for the missing victims.

The presence of the sniffer dog is expected to help personnel work even more optimally in searches in the disaster area.

"In addition, the North Sumatra Police also deployed heavy equipment to the disaster site to help evacuate," he said.
