DPR Claims Revision Of ITE Law To Protect Children In The Digital Space
JAKARTA - The DPR together with the Government completed two bills regarding ITE in a plenary meeting.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, said that one of the very strategic draft laws that had been enacted into law was the second amendment to the Law on ITE.
Meanwhile, ten Draft Laws (RUU) are still in discussion of level I discussions.
The DPR and the government feel the need to regulate child protection in the digital space, because of the growing dynamics of the digital world.
Including improvements to articles that are considered to be multiple interpretations to be corrected in accordance with legal developments and community needs.
"The amendment to the ITE Law is expected to provide a more comprehensive legal basis in order to protect users of electronic systems," said Puan Maharani in her official statement, Tuesday, December 5.

In addition to the ITE Law, the DPR RI has also agreed on three Draft Laws to be the proposal for the DPR RI initiative during the trial period.
Among them are the Bill on the fourth Amendment to Law No. 1 of 2015 concerning Stipulation of Government Regulations in Lieu of Law No. 1 of 2014 concerning the Election of Governors, Regents and Mayors into Laws.
As well as the Bill on the Province of the Special Region of Jakarta and the Bill on the Second Amendment to Law No. 16 of 2004 concerning the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Indonesia.
