Heavy Rain, East Kalimantan-West Kalimantan Border Line In Putussibau Longsor For 38 Meters

The high-intensity rain that hit the border between East Kalimantan and West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) not only caused flooding but also landslides on the Putussibau-Nanga Erak national route, Sayut Village, Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan.

"Almost half of the roads were hit by landslides, there were no casualties in the incident," said Head of BPBD Kapuas Hulu Gunawan in Putussibau, West Kalimantan, Tuesday, December 5, confiscated by Antara.

Gunawan said that a landslide with a length of 38 meters and a width of 5 meters occurred on Tuesday, December 5 at around 05.20 WIB. Almost half of the Putussibau-Nanga Erak road was affected.

According to him, until now there are still small landslides on the cliffs around the landslide site.

Gunawan said that his party received the report of the landslide at 08.30 WIB. The Kapuas Hulu BPBD team then went to the location with the South Police and the village government as well as local residents.

He said the steps taken were to put up a sign of landslides and appealed to the public to be careful and alert to subsequent landslides.

The landslide was caused by the high intensity of rainfall, which occurred since Monday, December 4, at 23.00 WIB.

The landslide incident has also been submitted and coordinated with the Ministry of PUPR.

Gunawan appealed to the entire people of Kapuas Hulu to increase their preparedness for natural disasters such as landslides and floods that are currently happening.

"Kauas Hulu is prone to landslides, floods and strong winds or tornadoes and currently the weather is quite extreme, therefore the community needs to increase preparedness," he said.
