Police Arrest Principal And Treasurer Of SMKN In Kolaka Suspect Of Corruption In BOS Funds

The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Kolaka Resort Police (Polres), Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) arrested the head and treasurer of a State Vocational High School (SMKN) related to the alleged corruption case of school operational funds (BOS).

Head of the Kolaka Police Satreskrim AKP Abd Azis Husein Lubis said the two suspects each had the initials AM as the principal and M was always the treasurer.

"On suspicion of corruption cases in BOS funds from 2018 to 2022," said Abd Azis as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 4.

The police conducted an investigation into the alleged case since last September 2023 and then carried out a case title process at the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police in November 2023 related to the agenda of determining the suspect in the alleged misappropriation of BOS funds.

The actions of the two suspects began when the school received BOS funds in 2018 until 2022 with varying values when both of them took office.

"However, in carrying out accountability for the use of these funds, the two officials entered an inappropriate budget note including the payment of school guards' honorariums," he said.

Currently, the principal and treasurer have been secured at the Kolaka Police Headquarters along with several pieces of evidence in the form of accountability reports for the management of BOS funds in 2018-2022.

"There is also a list of incentive recipients for school security personnel and cleaning staff," he explained.

Based on the calculation of state losses, it was found that losses reached Rp1.2 billion with the mode of activity carried out fictitiously as well as cutting incentives or honorariums and manipulating accountability reports for the use of BOS funds.

"The police are still developing the alleged corruption case of this BOS fund," said Azis.
