Regarding When Toyota Prius Enters The Indonesian Market, TAM: It's In The Preparation Stage
Toyota is one of the automotive pioneers engaged in presenting environmentally friendly vehicles, ranging from Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), Fuel-Cell Vehicle (FCV), to Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), in order to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality.
Toyota Prius is one of the models included in the low-emissions vehicle lineup. Through various generations, the sedan received a significant update for the fifth generation which was launched at the end of 2022.
After being introduced globally, PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) also brought it to the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2023 last August. This car received great enthusiasm in its debut in the country, although the brand-holding agency (APM) has not sold it in the near future.
Anton Jimmi Suwandi, as Marketing Director of PT TAM, said that his party was in preparation to market the Prius in Indonesia. However, he has not provided further details regarding this model.
"We are in preparation, yes, later when it is clear, we will be informed," Anton said when contacted by VOI, Monday, December 4.
This Japanese manufacturer offers two variants, namely HEV and Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV). The latest generation Toyota Prius uses the second generation Toyota New Generation Architecture (TNGA) platform base.
Prius HEV offers two machine options, namely 1,800 cc and 2,000 cc. For a 2.0 liter engine, it is capable of blowing up to 193 dk of power and has fuel consumption of up to 28.6 km/liter.
Meanwhile, the 1,800 cc engine option has a more efficient fuel efficiency capability of up to 32.6 km/liter. Not only is it efficient in fuel, the hybrid system from Toyota can make vehicles have responsive performance.
As for the PHEV version, Prius has a 2,000 cc engine capable of excitable up to 220 dk which is able to make the car go fast from 0 to 100 km/hour within 6.7 seconds.
Powered by a hybrid engine, the PHEV Prius certainly has efficient fuel consumption. With a 19-inch tire, this car recorded fuel efficiency of 26 km/liters. As for the 17-inch tires, it is much more efficient with 30.1 km/liters.
The car can cover a distance of 87 km (ban 19 inches) and 105 km (ban 17 inches) by relying solely on electric batteries without drawing gasoline. The technology offered from the PHEV Prius is the Reenergy Boost. This is useful when walking in the mountains and in situations where it requires a transition between acceleration and braking.

As an illustration, the latest generation of Prius HEV is sold starting from 2.750 million yen or equivalent to Rp321 million. Meanwhile, the PHEV version is priced at 4.6 million yen or around Rp519 million.
