Visiting Water Art Installation, Minister Basuki Emphasizes The Importance Of Water Management
JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono visited the Water Art Installation Exhibition organized by the Ministry of PUPR at the Indonesia Arena GBK, Jakarta, Sunday, December 3.
Through this event, the government wants to provide knowledge and public awareness about the importance of water.
"As stated in the Qur'an, God has promised that water will be lowered in sufficient and clean quantities. So, if there are water shortages and drought problems, or pollution, it must be the cause of human behavior towards water. So, we want to emphasize the importance of water management," Minister Basuki said in his remarks at the Water Art Installation Exhibition agenda at the Indonesia Arena GBK, Jakarta, quoted Monday, December 4.
Basuki said that his party had made various efforts to manage water in facing the challenges of climate change.
One of them is the construction of a dam designed as a multipurpose dam. In addition, the Ministry of PUPR also regulates the operation of dams.
"For example, when the rainy season comes, we already have to have a plan for high rainfall. We also have to anticipate the availability of water during the dry season so that there is no drought," he said.
Therefore, said Basuki, his party has managed around 300 dams that are self-regulated for operation.
"Every time we approach the rainy season, we operate and prepare space to accommodate flood volume," said Basuki.
The Water Art Installation Exhibition was held for four days by the Ministry of PUPR, starting from December 1-4, 2023. The exhibition was opened to the public for free at 09.00-19.00 WIB.
