Jokowi Affirms Commitment To Build A Prosperous Country With An Inclusive Economy
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo emphasized Indonesia's commitment to building a prosperous and sustainable country with an inclusive economy.
The President said that to achieve this, Indonesia will continue to work hard in achieving zero carbon emissions before 2060.
"At the same time enjoying the high economic growth, poverty and inequality that continues to be significantly lowered, as well as continuing to create jobs," the President said while speaking at the World Leaders Summit on Climate Change (COP28) at the Plenary Al Ghazat, Expo City Dubai, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (PEA), reported by ANTARA, Friday, December 1.
President Jokowi described a number of efforts that have been made by Indonesia to reduce carbon emissions. The Head of State conveyed Indonesia's commitment to improving the management of forest and other land use (FOLU), as well as accelerating the energy transition to new and renewable energy.
"In terms of FOLU management, Indonesia continues to maintain and expand mangrove forests and rehabilitate forests and land," he said.
In addition, Indonesia has also succeeded in reducing deforestation rates to the lowest point in the last 20 years. This is also followed by the development of a nursery that has been carried out on a large scale and has begun to be effective in producing.
"We also build nurseries on a large scale with a total capacity of around 75 million seeds per year, which has also started to produce effectively," continued the Head of State.

Meanwhile, in terms of energy transition, the President said that Indonesia's efforts to accelerate the development of new and renewable energy.
"Development of new and renewable energy, especially solar energy, water, wind, geothermal, and ocean currents, as well as the development of biodiesel, bioethanol, and bio-afture are also getting wider," he said.
To realize this commitment, the President also invited a number of parties such as bilateral partners, private investments, philanthropy, and friendly countries to collaborate on funding in realizing zero carbon emissions by 2060.
