Madiun Police Arrest DPRD Candidates Involved In Breaking Dozens Of Tokok

The Madiun Police Criminal Investigation Unit team, East Java, arrested a candidate for legislature from a political party in Madiun Regency suspected of being involved in burglary or theft in dozens of shops and houses.

Madiun Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Magribi Agung Saputra said in Madiun, Friday, that the suspect with the initials ADK (25), a resident of Bangunsari Village, Dejayan District, Madiun, was a candidate for the Madiun Regency DPRD.

"The person concerned was arrested at his home on Thursday (30/11) night. Apart from the ADK suspect, we also arrested another suspect, namely Basir, a resident of Jombang, in his boarding room which is close to the house of the suspect ADK," said Magribi as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, December 1.

When arrested, the suspect Basir, who was a recidivist in the theft case with a 2017 weight, tried to escape, so the police paralyzed him with a shot in the leg.

Magribi explained that the actions of the two suspects were found through surveillance camera (CCTV) footage installed in a shop owned by the victim named Agung Tri Pratama in Suluk Village, Dolopo District, Madiun Regency.

The results of the interim examination, the suspect admitted that he had committed theft in 18 shops and empty houses. The locations are different, including in Madiun, Ngawi, Magetan, Ponorogo, and Nganjuk which have been carried out since 2019.

When in action, their gang consisted of three people. Two perpetrators have been arrested, while one other perpetrator has the status of a DPO with the initials TB who is being searched.

In every crime, the suspect ADK plays the role of the driver driving the car to take perpetrator B as the executor to the house or shop that is targeted.

"Their last action was in Suluk Village at a basic food store belonging to the victim Agung, the loss reached Rp. 40 million," he said.

The police suspects secured the car used for action and a number of other evidences.

For their actions, the two suspects were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.
