Short Dating With Mazda2 Sedan: Offers Precision Driving With Elegant Design

JAKARTA - Mazda2 is one of Mazda's mainstay products for the Indonesian market. Having been present since 2009 in the country with the third generation, this hatchback has experienced several reshuffles over the years.

Currently, the model has entered the fourth generation to come in 2014. Although the hatchback version is the original identity of this series, Mazda presents another option by providing Mazda2 Sedan.

This version was launched by PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI) as a distributor of Mazda in Indonesia in September 2022 and has received development with the presence of advanced features and elegant designs.

At the launch of Mazda Drive Power 2023 on Wednesday, November 29, VOI got the opportunity to try this model to feel the impression of driving. What is the driving like? Here's the short review.

External And Interior Display

In terms of exteriors, this car is not much different from the hatchback version. The front looks like his brother with an LED light that blends slightly with a charming grip. However, what distinguishes it is the back.

Because this car is a sedan, a longer baggage room is presented with a rear bumper that is redesigned and a sharper light embedding.

While on the interior, it has an elegant element consisting of fine material that makes driving more comfortable. When the car is turned on, the head-unit at the top of the speedometer will appear by showing an indicator of vehicle speed.

His own jockey is also wrapped in a leather seat. However, for driving position arrangements, Mazda still uses conventional arrangements for all seats in the vehicle.

Various Features

This car is presented with a 7-inch head unit equipped with MZD Connect audio, Commander Control, and a 6-speaker audio system in several parts of the cabin. In addition, there is a flagship feature embedded in Mazda 2 Sedan, i-Stop (idling stop system) which will work when the car stops.

The Japanese manufacturer also embeds the i-ActivSense feature consisting of a variety of security systems. During our testing Mazda2 Sedan, this feature can actively turn on to alert drivers, one example being Blind Spor Monitoring (BSM) which tells drivers that there are motorcyclists or other cars in blind spots.

In addition to this system, Mazda also provides various security and safety devices, such as the Near Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), ABS-EBD and BA, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Track Control System (TCS), Hill Launch Assist (HLA), and cameras as well as rear parking sensors.

The sensation of Driving

The sense of driving this sedan is very comfortable with an ergonomic driving position, both for drivers who pose above and below 170 cm. When the gas pedal is stepped on, the acceleration in this model is quite subtle which comes from a Skyactive-G 1.5 liter 4-cylinder engine.

In terms of comfort, the taste of the suspension is quite standard even though the slam doesn't feel at all. The handle is also very precise between light or heavy, which makes the driver able to know how it feels when this car turns.

The six-speed automatic transmission gear movement also feels smooth when driving this car. Although still using a conventional transmission lever, the transfer from P to D feels easy by simply pressing the button around the lever, then pushing and pulling it as desired easily.

Conclusion

Mazda proved that pleasure and comfort driving is an important aspect, one of which is applied to Mazda2 Sedan. For consumers who want a car with a 'Mazda' brand, but want an affordable price, this model will be an attractive choice with a price tag of IDR 348.8 million Jakarta OTR.
