Mercedes-Benz Plans GLC EV Production At US Factory, Replace EQS

JAKARTA - Mercedes-Benz plans to stop producing EQS SUVs in the United States for a new electric GLC that has a longer reach. This step was taken to provide space for the upcoming GLC EV.

Quoted from Automotive News, Wednesday, November 28, according to trusted Mercedes sources will move production of the EQS SUV to its factory in Breman in the second half of the decade.

As is known, EQS is currently being built at the Tuscaloosa plant in Alabama. The car is the first electric model made in the US, starting last August.

Meanwhile, according to a report from AutoForecast Solutions, Mercedes will start building the GLC EV in the first quarter of 2026, and expects the first year's production to reach 50,000 units, more than double the current EQS production.

Later the GLC EV will be the successor to the EQC which was due to be launched in 2020, and become the first mass electric vehicle, but the manufacturer canceled the plan due to its limited reach.

Previously, the electric car was caught on camera several times wrapped in camouflage doing road tests, at first glance, the design has a rear-leaning roof line and the front end is unique, featuring a slimmer overall display.

It is estimated that the GLC EV will display a range of about 482 km, with various modern features to be embedded.
