President Director Expects Development Of Batam's Hang Nadim Airport To Be Free Of Political Activities

KAPRI - President Director of PT Bandara Internasional Batam Pikri Ilham Kurnitiansyah said that the development of Terminal II of Hang Nadim Airport is expected to be free from political issues. He conveyed this considering the entry of the 2024 Election stage amid the development permit for Terminal 2 Hang Nadim which has been pocketed by his party. The design that was made has also been approved by investors, but the laying of the first stone as a marker of the start of the project has not yet been carried out. "We are still discussing it with the Batam Concesssion Agency (BP), because later there will be many parties involved. So we will confirm when the good day will be, because we don't want the activity to be politically nuanced later. Don't think that this first stone laying is from certain political activities, this is what we are guarding," said Pikri, in Batam Riau Islands (Keprri), Wednesday 29 November, confiscated by Antara. Pikri explained that the development of the airport terminal has entered a more positive progress, especially terminal II. The design of terminal II development that has been set is approved by all parties including investors. What is still being done, he said, his party is still trying to complete the details of terminal II design so that it can immediately reshuffle the old terminal cargo.. "Because this old terminal cargo is a place for the construction of the second terminal, so I think the permit from the ministry has been obtained to destroy the cargo of this old terminal and soon we will move it to the new terminal, then we will then do the first stone laying at terminal II," he said.

Pikri explained that after terminal II is completed, domestic services will also be moved, and terminal I will be renewed again. In its development, at Hang Nadim Batam Airport, it will add up to ten new parking lots including pedestrian bridges entering the plane. However, he admitted that the development of terminal I cannot be completed quickly because the airport is still used for operations. The majority is actually used for international purposes, so this terminal two is international and we also use it for full service airlines, while the terminal one will go to LCC (Low Cost Carrier) airlines," he also said.
