Electric Motorcycle Subsidy Wants To Be Added, Here's AISMOLI's Response

JAKARTA - The Indonesian government is currently making various efforts to accelerate the transition of environmentally friendly vehicles by presenting a subsidy program for electric motorcycles.

Although the government has provided electricity motor subsidies of Rp. 7 million, so far not many people have used it. According to the remainingpira.id page, the subsidy quota has only reached around 15,000 units out of 200,000 provided by the government.

This is what makes the government intend to increase the amount of subsidies to reach Rp. 10 million per unit of its motorbike for 2024. They will revise the rules and relax the requirements for recipients of natural electric motor subsidies Permenperin Number 21 of 2023. In this new regulation, the requirements are quite simple, namely: Indonesian citizens aged 17 years, have electronic ID cards, and one NIK only for one subsidized electric motor unit.

Responding to this, Budi Setiyadi, as Chair of the Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Industry Association (AISMOLI), said that the new regulation still has not disclosed the amount of subsidies that will be obtained by the community, but will open up opportunities for all groups by fulfilling the requirements to have one Population Identification Number.

"For electric motorcycles, this is indeed the latest regulation not regarding the amount of money, but in opening up opportunities for everyone who initially was four groups now all people with 1 NIK to buy electric motorbikes," said Budi at the SMESCO Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 28.

He also emphasized that the proposal is expected to be achieved not only individually, but also as a group of entrepreneurs or Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as operational vehicles.

"For example, maybe there are entrepreneurs who run factories tofu, then they need to operate using the operation of an electric motorbike. That can also be a subsidy," added Budi.

For electric conversion motors, Budi explained that the government is trying to increase the nominal subsidy to Rp. 10 million, although adjustments need to be made so that this emission-free vehicle target can be achieved.

"If the conversion I heard is indeed being added to Rp. 10 million, yes, but the regulations are being harmonized," concluded Budi.
