The 2024 Election Is Believed To Take Place Peacefully As Long As The State Apparatus Is Neutral

Political observer from the University of Indonesia (UI) Doni Gahral assesses that the 2024 Simultaneous Elections can run peacefully if the state apparatus, namely ASN, TNI, and Polri, show a neutral attitude.

Doni said that during the post-reformed election, no elections resulted in bloody conflicts or civil war.

"All parties must guard against being narrowed to an unexpected situation. Peace can be achieved if the state apparatus, ASN, TNI, Polri are neutral," said Doni Gahral, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 28.

According to Doni, it is like a football match, the match will be noisy if the referee sided with one of the teams. So, he continued, recently there was a video assistantreferee (VAR) that arranged for the referee to make it difficult for the referee, in fact, unable to, take sides.

Doni said the election must be filled with suspicion and suspicion; so, if the state apparatus is not neutral, then the suspicion will become something that is not only in the minds of the public, but can also become a reality on the ground.

Peace elections, he continued, are not only on the issue of integrity pacts, but also facts on the ground that must have justice. State officials must not take sides, because the essence of the state is to serve all.

"State officials must not serve one group. This is the rule of the game for thousands of years since the country exists," said Doni.

If state officials deny neutrality and there is concrete evidence, plus there will be no sanction or clarification from election organizers; then there could be the potential for one chaotic orchaotic condition.
