Taika Waititi Reveals Reasons For Directoring Thor Movie: Need Money For Children
JAKARTA - Director and actor Taika Waititi admitted that he never thought of collaborating with Marvel. He directed two Thor franchise films under the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
In Smartless, Waititi talked about how she was contacted by Marvel for the first time. He admitted that he was not interested in making films for the production house.
"You know? I'm not interested in making that film. There are no plans in my career as an amateur," said Taika Waititi.
"But I'm poor and I'm just welcoming my second child, and I think this might be a good opportunity to give these kids a living," he continued.
Furthermore, Rita Ora's husband referred to Thor as the Marvel franchise which was not quite popular compared to other solo character franchises.

I never read Thor's comics as a child. It was the comic that I was the only one holding and I felt sad. And I did research, and I read Thor's comic for 18 pages. I'm still confused about the character," he said.
"Thor, let's face it - the fact that this is the least popular franchise," continued Waititi.
However, it seems Taika Waititi will not direct Thor's next film, which is reportedly being planned by Marvel Studios. Although Marvel has not confirmed it, he already believes in his statement.
"I don't know if it's accurate, but I know I won't be involved," he said.
On the other hand, Waititi's absence from Marvel is clearly due to Waititi's busy schedule. He is confirmed to adapt the novel The INCAL from the universe Star Wars as well as the adaptation of the novel Klara and the Sun.
"I will focus on other films that I handle. So six, seven years have passed. I can imagine that other Thor (films) will arrive sooner than that," said Taika Waititi.
