National Police Chief-TNI Commander Signs Declaration Of Commitment To Neutrality In The 2024 Election
JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto signed the Declaration of TNI-Polri Neutrality Commitment in the Implementation of the 2024 General Election (Pemilu).
The National Police Chief and the TNI Commander signed the declaration accompanied by the Chairman of the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) Rahmat Bagja and members at the National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) of the Integrated Law Enforcement Center (Gakkumdu) held by the General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu).
Met after the signing, the National Police Chief said the declaration was proof that the National Police and the TNI were committed to maintaining election neutrality. He hopes that the community will also work together to maintain peace in the election.
"Earlier it was signed. So, the important thing is that the community should not be provoked by hoaxes, with incitement invitations which can then divide unity and integrity," said Sigit, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 27.
He reminded that Indonesia is a big country. Therefore, the National Police Chief said maintaining unity and integrity in the midst of differences in political choices is the main thing that needs to be maintained.
"The most important thing is how to maintain unity and integrity even though the choices are different because we are a big country, we have to protect it. And this is our capital to continue to be a developed country," he said.
Meanwhile, the TNI Commander said that active TNI soldiers should not practice politics because there will be punishment for those who violate it, as stipulated in Law 34 of 2004 concerning the TNI and Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections.
"If political is practical, there will be criminal action or reprimand from its leadership," said Agus.
The Commander said that the TNI and Polri are making a peace declaration in every region in Indonesia. This is to seek synergy in maintaining elections.
"We are also with the National Police making a peace declaration in every region. So, the TNI and Polri and all elements of society. Hopefully, pray everyone, the election will run safely and smoothly," added Agus.

To create a democratic 2024 General Election, the Indonesian National Police hereby states:
1. Maintain and enforce the principle of neutrality.
2. Avoid conflicts of interest and actions that benefit or harm one of the election participants.
3. Together, make efforts to prevent election violations and money politics.
4. Synergize with each other to maintain the conduciveness of holding elections.
