Canceled At GBK, Declaration Of Peaceful Elections Moved To KPU Office

JAKARTA - The General Election Commission (KPU) RI changed the location of the Declaration of Peaceful Elections, which was originally held at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Jakarta, Monday (27/11) to the KPU RI Office. "It doesn't happen at GBK, right? So in front of the KPU office, it seems like it was due to several considerations. Not tomorrow, (so) on 27th, the difference is only on location and according to our capacity," said KPU RI member Afifuddindi GOR Pasar Minggu, Jakarta, Saturday. Afifuddin explained that on 27 November there would be a declaration as well as the first day of the campaign that started on 28 November 2023. In addition, he said, one of the events was the closure of the election carnival that had been traveling throughout Indonesia. "The point is November 27, the declaration of a peaceful election along with all election participants and also the preparation of the first day of the campaign," he said, quoted by Antara. Afifuddin said that President Joko Widodo had been invited to attend the Declaration of Peace Elections. However, he admitted that he was not aware of confirmation of the presence of President Jokowi. Previously, KPU RI Member August Mellaz, in Jakarta, Wednesday, (22/11), said the declaration was held at GBK and started at 14.00 WIB, and it was estimated that around 65 thousand people would attend it.

The Indonesian KPU on Monday, (13/11), has determined three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates to be participants in the 2024 Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections (Pilpres). The results of the draw and the determination of the serial numbers for the 2024 presidential election on Tuesday, (14/11), the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar pair number 1, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka number 2, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD number 3. KPU has also set a campaign period from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024. Then, the voting schedule on February 14, 2024.
