BYD And Huaihai Group Build The World's Largest Sodium-ion Battery Factory
JAKARTA - Findreams Battery, a subsidiary of BYD, has established a strategic partnership with Huaihai Group, a three-wheeled bicycle giant, to inaugurate the construction of the Sodium-ion battery factory. A monumental investment of 10 billion yuan or approximately IDR 21.8 trillion will be allocated to this ambitious project.
The site of the factory to be built is located in Xuzhou, a strategic city in the middle of a line between Beijing and Shanghai. This factory, with an annual production capacity of up to 30 GWh, is expected to become the world's largest Sodium-ion battery factory. This information was quoted from the Carnewschina page, Wednesday, November 22.
The factory under construction will serve as a production center for future micro vehicles and electric scooters. Well, BYD Seagull is rumored to be the first to use this battery en masse.
Interestingly, this collaboration is not the first between BYD and Huaihai Group. Previously, the two of them had collaborated in the construction of a standard battery factory in November 2022. The plant, with an area of 310.000 square meters, is scheduled to start production trials in March 2024.
