18 Kiosks And One Shophouse At Angke Market Burnt

JAKARTA - 3-story shophouses and a number of kiosks located on Krendang Street, Pintu Air, Angke Market, West Jakarta, were burned to the ground, Thursday, November 16, noon. The fire continued to spread to a number of buildings.

"There were about 18 kiosks on fire. The cause of the fire was suspected to be an electrical short circuit," said Head of West Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Syafrudin, Thursday, November 16.

The flames continued to grow for 40 minutes. There was an explosion that was thought to have been heard from a gas cylinder.

A total of 16 fire engines with 80 personnel arrived at the fire site for the fire extinguishing process.

"The area burned was 12 x 5 meters in size. The loss was estimated at Rp 500 million," he said.

There were no fatalities as a result of this fire. Meanwhile, the process of cooling the fire is still being carried out by officers in the field.
