BSI Tower Physical Construction Begins, Erick Thohir Asks To Be An Islamic Financial Center

JAKARTA - The construction of the BSI Tower is now entering a new chapter, where the physical construction process officially begins with today's groundbreaking.

The construction of the BSI Tower is located on the land of the former Wisma Antara. Precisely on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan-Jalan H Agus Salim, Central Jakarta.

The groundbreaking of BSI Tower was carried out directly by the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir.

When giving his speech, Erick said, it is very appropriate for SOEs to invest in the National Monument (Monas) area.

Furthermore, Erick said, these assets are classified as extraordinary assets because they will later become one of the financial centers when the National Capital City moves to East Kalimantan.

"So to invest here, I think BUMN is actually not wrong. Moreover, this is an extraordinary asset and this will be one of the financial centers. And we started by building two twin buildings, namely DanareksaTower and BSI Tower," said Erick at the BSI Tower Ground Breaking event, Jakarta, Thursday, November 9.

On this occasion, Erick emphasized that from the start, he had asked the President Director of the related SOEs to direct the construction of BSI Tower as an Islamic Financial Center.

"This is also from the start I asked the President Director to become an Islamic Financial Center, now this is what we are because the building is also a bit Middle Eastern, modern, clean," he said.

In addition, Erick believes, the Monas area is very likely to be iconic. On that basis, Erick will hold talks with Danareksa to prepare a fund property.

"Where will the assets of SOEs around Monas become a place, including the Ministry of SOEs building," said Erick.

The fund property, said Erick, is in line with the extraordinary potential for the area around Monas.

Erick's discussion with the Acting Governor of Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono revealed that this Monas area will be one side of the Center or where Jakarta's economic growth will be in the future. Especially after the National Capital moved to IKN.

"This Monas area will be greened, so it's not inferior to other big cities. If in New York there is a Center Park, in London there are others, we will also have one later in front," concluded Erick.
