Involving 2,348 Personnel, Metro Jaya Police Anticipates Bombs and Palestine Banners at the U-17 World Cup

JAKARTA - Deputy Chief of Police for Metro Jaya Brigadier General Suyudi Ario Seto asked his members to focus on securing ten potential disturbances to the U-17 World Cup activities taking place at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), North Jakarta, one of which is anticipating bombs and the raising of Palestinian political banners.

Metro Jaya Police deployed 2,348 personnel to secure the international U-17 World Cup which will take place on 10 November - 2 December 2023, one of which is located at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), North Jakarta.

"First, crowds at the entrance to the stadium, second, traffic jams and traffic accidents, third, physical friction between supporters," he said while leading the Bacuya Safe Operation 2023 squad at Metro Jaya Police, Thursday.

Then the fourth is blocking, attacking, throwing at referees, players and team officials. Fifth, namely throwing flares onto the field.

"The six banners carried by supporters are political in nature or support for one of the countries in conflict, such as the Israeli and Palestinian conflict, Seventh, bomb threats, suicide bombings and attacks on TNI-Polri security forces, Eighth, conventional crime, street crime and acts of thuggery, said Suyudi.

Then the ninth is acts of sabotage during the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup and finally the tenth, contingency events and natural disasters.

The Deputy Chief of Police also advised personnel not to make the slightest mistake in this international scale event.

"Therefore, we are preparing as much as possible starting from planning, implementation, supervision and control. So that the government has confidence in the National Police to secure this very important event, it must be interpreted as carrying out the best duties," he said.

Suyudi also explained that the personnel involved in the Safe Bacuya (Rhinoceros Horn of Light) 2023 operation would be placed on arrival and departure at the airport, accommodation, security of the training ground, security at the match venue, security of the route from the accommodation to the stadium and vice versa.

"Securing escape routes and parking lots and the National Police also preparing personnel to anticipate emergency situations, such as natural disaster situations," he said.
