Banda Aceh Collaborates With Waste Management Investors To Become Renewable Energy
The Banda Aceh City Government cooperates with investors from outside the region for waste management in the capital city of Aceh Province to become a renewable energy source, in an effort to create a wasteless city by 2030.
"On a small scale, independently we have started a waste conversion project into electricity at the Java Gampong TPA since several years ago," said Acting Mayor of Banda Aceh Amiruddin as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, November 3.
The collaboration began to be explored by the Banda Aceh City Government with the company PT Cahaya Terang Alami (CTA). This company has expressed interest in investing in Banda Aceh in the waste management sector.
He said the City Government would provide full support so that the project could run. Especially for efforts to realize sustainable development Goals (SDGs) related to wasteless cities (zero waste) by 2030.
"And with the support of investors, of course we will be able to produce more renewable energy from about 250 tons of waste produced by Banda Aceh every day," he said.
The acting mayor hopes that the projects that have been successfully realized in several major cities in the world can soon be present in Banda Aceh.
