The Network Of Smugglers Of Methamphetamine And Ecstasy From Malaysia Arrested By The West Jakarta Police

The West Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Investigation Unit uncovered a case of international network narcotics trafficking involving 20 suspects. In this disclosure, as many as 224 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 11,000 more pills of ecstasy were secured as evidence.

West Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Syahduddi said this disclosure operation was the result of the hard work of the Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satresnarkoba) which lasted for one month, from September to October 2023.

"The Narcotics Unit managed to uncover 224,263.37 grams of methamphetamine, equivalent to (224 kg) and 11,356 pills of ecstasy," said Kombes Syahduddi to reporters, Friday, November 3.

The disclosure of this case involved 11 locations spread across various regions, with a total of 20 suspects arrested. The suspects who were arrested were couriers and controllers.

Furthermore, Kombes Syahduddi said that this disclosure was the result of the development of information obtained by officers in the field. Thus, the police succeeded in thwarting the circulation of narcotics in various regions, including on the border of Sumatra.

One of the striking disclosures was the smuggling of 6 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine from Malaysia to Jambi by sea. The courier involved in this case was arrested when he was about to receive the methamphetamine evidence.

"On average, these rates get a fee of Rp. 10 million per kilogram to deliver methamphetamine," he said.

The suspects were charged with Article 112 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 Paragraph (2) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 Year 2009 concerning Narcotics.
