Jokowi Affirms Domestic Investors Prioritized For The Development Of IKN Nusantara Facilities

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked the State Capital Authority (OIKN) of the Archipelago to prioritize domestic investors to develop a number of facilities and infrastructure in the Core Area of the IKN Government Center.Although currently several countries, such as Singapore, South Korea, and Japan have reviewed IKN, Jokowi asked to give domestic investors a chance first."I conveyed to the Head of the IKN Authority first for domestic investors. But if we knock and don't have it, we will remove moves from outside," said President Jokowi when inaugurating the groundbreaking of the Pakuwon Nusantara project in the IKN area, East Kalimantan, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, November 1.Jokowi explained that 130 investors from Singapore had reviewed the development progress at IKN. Then, investors from Japan, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates are also interested in investing in IKN.In fact, the Head of State told that United Arab Emirates investors asked for a block to build a financial center. However, he emphasized to the Head of the IKN Authority to put a brake on foreign investors first."But usually from outside, for example from the United Arab Emirates, he asks for one block directly. 'This is a block for our financial center to work on the total'. Then what will you get in the country?," said Jokowi. With the start of the construction of VVIP IKN Airport, hospitals, and toll roads that are still running, President Jokowi believes that the completion of the infrastructure development in 2024 will make investors flock to IKN. Therefore, he asked domestic investors not to miss the momentum to invest.
"If the two toll roads are completed, the airport is complete, I am sure that if the late start investment in the capital city of Nusantara, you will be left behind," said President Jokowi.
