Mahfud MD Yakin 3 MKMK Sosok Kredibel Tangani Dugaan Pelanggaran Etik Hakim MK
JAKARTA - Mahfud Md's vice presidential candidate believes that the three members of the Honorary Council of the Constitutional Court (MKMK) who have been inaugurated are credible figures.
"Before the MKMK was formed, I was pessimistic, yes, before it was named. But after his name was mentioned there was Jimly, there was Bintan there was Wahiduddin, I think it was quite credible," Mahfud said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 25.
Mahfud, who is also the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, conveyed this at the Jakarta Presidential Palace, after attending the inauguration of the Army Chief of Staff, Minister of Agriculture and the appointment of the LBBP Ambassador.
As is known, the formation of the MKMK is to examine alleged violations of the code of ethics of the Constitutional Court judge regarding the decision on the age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates.
According to Mahfud, with the appointment of the three MKMK members, namely former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Jimly Asshiddiqie, Constitutional Justice Wahiduddin Adams and academics in the legal field of Bintan R. Saragih, the MKMK no longer needs to be associated with other issues.
He admitted that he had concerns that the MKMK decision could be regulated, before the three names of MKMK members were appointed.
"When the Constitutional Court announced the MKMK before it was named, I was 'tight it's difficult now that anything can be regulated'. But after (it was announced) that what my old friends all appeared, all I know in the world is the struggle for democracy and law, there is Mr. Jimly, Mr. Bintan then there is Wahiduddin Adams, we have to believe it," he said.
He hopes that the three MKMK members can put the problem at the right proportion.
