Introduce, Rudy And Ratna, A Couple Who Got Married In East Jakarta's Trash With Tight Prokes!

JAKARTA - Residents of Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, held a wedding reception with strict health protocols (prokes) at the waste processing depot in their neighborhood.

"There are no invitations for friends or neighbors, just a wedding and family celebration," said the groom's parents, Sugino (58), quoted by Antara in Jakarta, Wednesday, February 10.

Gino said the reception activities for the couple Rudy and Ratna were held simply by utilizing the waste processing depot at RW 09 Malaka Selatan, RW 09 Pondok Kelapa Duren Sawit Village.

The use of waste processing depots is due to limited space. The bride's residence, which is not far from the garbage depot, is relatively narrow.

Meanwhile, booking a reception in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic is very difficult.

"It was the first time (a wedding) was held because the depot could already be used. Now, the garbage depot is capable, although it is a trash can, it can be used as a place like this," he said.

Gino took the licensing procedure through the local RT and RW management after making sure all health protocols were implemented.

In the 250 square meter building that became the seat of the bride and groom, there was no visible spill of garbage. This is because the waste thrown by residents from the local kelurahan is directly processed every day into compost and plastic ore.

Rudy and Ratna's wedding was attended by only a dozen guests who were close relatives of both parties. The bride and groom and their families still appear wearing formal clothes such as Javanese kebaya complete with facial makeup. They interact by keeping their distance.

"Parents take care of it. We agree not to invite many people and those who come also obey health protocols and not many people either," said Rudy.

According to Rudy, the wedding at the Duren Sawit Waste Management Depot was held for the first time. "This is new and it doesn't interfere with the distribution of residents' waste either," he said.

The bridal reception and celebration event lasted approximately two hours. Guests who come are checked on temperature, given plastic gloves and masks as souvenirs. There is also a place for washing hands at the entrance to the depot complete with hand sanitizer.
