Climatology Station: West Kalimantan Enters Rainy Season Even Though The Atmosphere Is Still El Nino
Head of West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) Climatology Station (Kalbar) Luhur Tri Uji Prayitno said the dry season which caused an increase in forest and land fires and worsening the air quality of the region immediately changed with the entry of the rainy season which was quite wet.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the start of the rainy season will generally occur in November 2023. Currently it is starting to rain and needs to be watched out for at the peak of rain," he said in Pontianak, Monday, October 23, quoted by Antara.
He explained, although the dynamics of the atmosphere at the end of the year still shows the positive condition of El Nino and IOD which usually causes drought, its influence in West Kalimantan, especially in November-December 2023 and January 2024, has the potential to increase rainfall.
"In addition, the condition of sea level temperatures that tend to warm up in Indonesia, especially the West Kalimantan region, increases the potential for cloud growth," he explained.
