Solidarity For Palestine In Romania, OIC State Ambassadors Hold Action
JAKARTA - A number of ambassadors (dubes) from member countries of the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC) in Romania held solidarity actions for Palestine. This was done in front of the Palestinian Embassy in Bucharest, Friday, October 20.
The solidarity action held by representatives of OKI members in Romania was carried out as a form of support for the Palestinian people.
In accordance with the direction of the OKI Foreign Minister meeting in Jeddah on October 18, 2023, the heads of representatives of OKI countries were asked to fight for the OIC position and immediately raise humanitarian and political support for Palestine in their respective accreditation countries.
"The ambassadors of OKI countries have also sent a Diplomatic Note (Note Verbale) to the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the Final Community Minister of Foreign Affairs of the OIC," said Indonesian Ambassador to Romania and the Republic of Moldova Meidyatama Suryodiningrat quoting Antara.
The ambassadors, Meidyatama said, hoped Romania - as members of the European Union - would pay attention to the ongoing humanitarian tragedy in Palestine.
"We also underline the position of Indonesia which has been expressly stated by President Joko Widodo and Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, that any attempt that leads to the expulsion of residents in Gaza must be rejected," the Ambassador added.
He also emphasized Indonesia's consistent, firm and clear stance that peace will not be achieved without the fulfillment of the rights of the Palestinian people.
For this reason, he said, Indonesia urged the peace process to be recommended to achieve a two-state solution as the only way.
