Vitalik Buterin Affirms Not Selling ETH For Personal Interests
JAKARTA - Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, confirmed that he did not sell his crypto assets and stated that the news circulating was untrue. Since 2018, he confirmed that he had never sold ether for personal gain.
Buterin provided clarification through Warpcast, a decentralized social network, that many reports misinterpreted the transfer of its digital assets to charitable organizations as the sale of personal crypto assets.
This controversy comes after media reports that Kanro, a charity linked to co-founder of Ethereum, has transferred 15.43 million USDC coins to a multi-signature wallet (multi-sig). However, the data shows that Kanro actually made two transfers: one to Coinbase (500,000 USDC coins) and the other to Gemini (14.93 million).
In June 2023, Buterin talked about his intention to fund a Covid research project. At the time, he revealed that Crypto Relief, a community-run fund, had received 90 million USDC from initial donations in the form of a token $SHIB. Buterin promised to donate "10 million from his own funds."

In a statement on Warpcast on October 17, Buterin stated:
"If you look at the article that says 'Vitas send XXX ETH to [bursts],' it's actually not me who sells. I almost always donate to some charities or non-profits or other projects, and the recipients sell because they have to cover costs. I've never'sell' ETH for personal gain since 2018."
Some Warpcast users support Buterin and state that many media reports are inaccurate. However, there are also those who argue that Buterin indirectly admits that he has sold part of his ETH holdings.
