Police Arrest Viral Fortuner Driver At PIK: Fake Police Service Plate, Purchased Online

JAKARTA - The police arrested a man with the initials M, a Fortuner car driver who went viral because he threatened and confronted another driver. From the results of the investigation, the license plate of the police service used turned out to be fake.

"Yes, it has been secured. Counterfeit plates," said Head of Sub-Directorate of Jatanras, Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya AKBP Samian when confirmed, Thursday, October 19.

To investigators, M admitted that he had used the police service number plate for one month. He bought it from one of the marketplaces.

The reason the suspect used the license plate of the police service number 57267-00 was to feel safe.

"(Police service number plates) Bought online," he said.

In this case, the suspect was charged with Article 355 of the Road Traffic and Transportation Law (LLAJ). Regarding the use of fake plates, it will be handled by the Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya.

"It will be coordinated with traffic regarding the alleged use of fake plates," said Samian.

In the video footage, the suspect M's arrogant action is said to have occurred in the Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) area, precisely on Jalan Pluit Selatan Raya, North Jakarta.

The suspect was driving recklessly. He closed the other car. In fact, M was about to get out of his vehicle while showing a threatening gesture while carrying an iron rod.
