Toyota Indonesia Has Exported More Than 2.5 Million Cars To Various Countries
JAKARTA - PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) has been exporting the T-Brand (Toyota Brand) model since 1987. In fact, the company has reached a milestone by successfully sending 2,520,754 units to 100 countries in various parts of the world.
Bob Azam, as Vice President Director of PT TMMIN, said the success achieved by his party was thanks to the high technology of the national automotive industry, supported by supply chains which are a source of livelihood for more than 300,000 of its employees.
"This shows the strength of national human resources that are not only superior in the form of a population, but also highly competitive because they have succeeded in producing high-tech automotive products to the global market," said Bob, in an official statement received by VOI, Wednesday, October 18.
Starting from the first export with third-generation Kijang products that were sent traditionally to Brunei Darusalam and several other areas of the Asia Pacific. The export activity developed by adding several model lines to 2017, by making the 200.000 units, which is the highest volume since the last 5 years.
In addition to exporting complete vehicles, Toyota Indonesia has also exported vehicles locally (CKD), exports of machinery, components and production supporting equipment. In addition, since 2019 conversion vehicles such as cash carriers, well-cabs, and patrol cars have also been exported by Toyota Indonesia to foreign countries.
The number of exports will continue in 2022 with Indonesia becoming the first country to export vehicles to Australia and also marking the achievement of the two million units achieved by Toyota Indonesia.
That year, the company managed to locally produce Kijang Innova Zenix for variants of ICE and Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV). The model was exported to various regions, including Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.

Seeing a positive response to electrification both national and international markets, Toyota launched the Yaris Cross which was produced at the Karawang factory, West Java, as well as the second locally produced HEV vehicle.
Based on data from Gaikindo for nine months 2023, the manufacturer recorded export achievements of 213,901 units out of a total of 379,498 units, an increase of 2.5 percent from last year's achievement in the same period.
In detail, the SUV models such as Fortuner, Rush, and Raize, became the most exported vehicles during January to September 2023 as many as 112,241 units. The achievement was attended by the MPV segments such as Kijang Innova Zenix, Avanza, and Veloz, as many as 74,176 units, as well as a combination of sedans, hatchbacks, and LCGC, as many as 27,484 units.
