Change Stage Name, Vidi Wants To Restore Image As A Singer
JAKARTA - Vidi Aldiano has now changed his image by removing his last name. Currently, the 33-year-old soloist prefers Vidi's mononym as his stage name.
When asked what was the reason, Vidi said he wanted to return to his image as a solo singer.
"The real reason is simple, because I just want to," said Vidi at Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta on Friday, October 6.
"But if you want to go deeper, in 2023 as a musician, Vidi wants to return (to become a singer). Because from 2020 to 2023 it was caused by the pandemic, most of them made content, and finally they were comfortable playing Youtube," he continued.
Vidi felt his image as a singer shifted in the last three years. This makes him feel lost.
"I feel that the identity as a musician is shifting. If my friends say it's not shifting, but adding it. But still, as a musician, I feel like something is missing and makes me miss it," said Vidi.
"After being pushed by friends like GAC, Agfan, Isyana who had worked first, finally I decided to come back," he added.
Starting a career as a singer since 2008, Vidi even felt insecure about his music career. Therefore, he released the song w u at? Recently.

"From the beginning of 2023, I actually rejected many gig offers, not for what reason, but insecure. I feel like I don't have new works anymore," said Vidi.
"So what am I now, my reputation as a singer from 2008 is like being buried, so I want to return it," he said.
For information, w u at? Is Vidi's newest single. Different from the songs that have been released, the song has a distinctive K-pop feel, which Vidi also performs choreography in the video clip.
