Confessions On Mobile-Laptops Become Guidelines For Disclosure Of The Cause Of Maternal And Child Deaths In Depok

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya concluded that suicide was the cause of the deaths of Grace and David in Cinere, Depok. Messages on cellphones and laptops are one of the clues that strengthen this conclusion.

Director of General Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya Hengki Haryadi said the two messages were written by David. It contains his complaints and intention to end his life.

"Including those on laptops and cellphones. Where we found important clues to the contents of the laptop that we might convey to you whomever," Hengki told reporters, Friday, October 6.

The message on the cellphone was written by David on February 23, 2017. He expressed his tired heart with his life.

In fact, in that message, Grace's child told me that she had been depressed for several years.

"(The message on the phone) sounded 'I'm tired of life, I'm tired of all lies. I'm tired of my answering mother who is reactive and never conscious. I've been depressed for 2 years and I want to kill myself'," said Hengki reading the message.

Meanwhile, the message found in the document on the laptop was written by David on July 27, 2023. The document is titled to you whomever.

The contents of the message tell that if the writing is read by someone else, then, he and Grace have died.

"(Message contents) 'If anyone reads this then I'm dead with my mother. It depends whether he will continue it or not", this is important. And in the next paragraph it says 'To be honest I'm surprised, I didn't commit suicide, from the start this is the clue," said Hengki.

Grace and David ended their lives by locking themselves in a narrow bathroom.

It is said to be narrow because the bathroom area is only 1.8 meters x 1 meter. Then, the entire air ventilation was deliberately covered with plastic.

In the bathroom, two ornaments were found that had been burned. It is believed that the ornament was deliberately burned so that the room was filled with smoke.

"Then in the bathroom crime scene, two large counts of charcoal and flashlights were found," said Hengki.
