Hyundai Prints Achievements In Safety, Verna Sedan Gets 5 Stars From Global NCAP
Hyundai has again achieved impressive achievements in terms of vehicle safety. This time, Verna, a sedan marketed in India, won the title 'Top Global' or got 5 stars from the Global NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) agency. This result was achieved after going through a series of rigorous hit tests, which tested safety levels for adult passengers and children.
Alejandro Furas, Secretary-General of Global NCAP, praised this achievement and said that this is proof of Hyundai's strong commitment, a company from South Korea, in improving safety standards in developing countries.
"We encourage Hyundai to continue to be committed to this path and introduce the best safety performance on its most affordable models, as well as expand the use of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) technology across their product lines around the world," Furas said in a statement on Tuesday, October 3.
Hyundai Verna, designed according to India's market needs, is equipped with a number of standard safety features, including six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), ISOFIX on the back, and seat belts for all seats.

According to an Autocar India report, Tuesday, October 3, in testing adult passenger protection, Verna scored 28.18 out of a total of 34 points. Although the vehicle's body did not experience significant deformation and could withstand further loads, the car managed to provide strong protection for the driver's head and neck and passengers during a head-on collision.
In the child passenger protection test, Verna scored 42 out of a total of 49 points. This includes 12 of the 12 points given for the installation of the Child Restraint System (CRS). In this test, Global NCAP tested Verna using a 18-month-old and 3-year-old child doll, with both seats faced backwards. Both seats were installed with anchors and foot supports, which helped prevent head impacts from the front. This CRS also provides full protection against side clashes.
Verna is available in two variants of the engine. The first is a 1.5 liter naturally-assisted gasoline engine with a power of 113 dk and a 144 Nm torque available with a manual transmission of six accelerations or Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). Meanwhile, the highest variant, with a turbocharged engine of 1.5 L, provides 156 dk of power and 253 Nm of torque combined with a manual transmission of six accelerations or an automatic double coupling of seven accelerations.
