These Two Boxers Potentially Become Canelo Alvarez Next
JAKARTA Saul Canelo Alvarez still has a two-fight contract from three that he signed with Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) management. Jermell Charlo is the first opponent, who Canelo managed to beat with an absolute number victory at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Saturday night 30 September 2023.
Neither Canelo Promotions nor PBC management have mentioned the opponent to be offered next. However, rumors circulated echoed two names, Jermall Charlo and Terence Crawford.
Jermall Charlo is Jermell's twin brother, who was just defeated by Canelo. Jermall is seen as having more guts than his twin, who clearly only wants a big fee from the duel against Canelo.
Jermall is currently the WBC (72 kg) middleweight champion. He is also unbeaten by a record 32-0-0 (22 KOs). Jermall is expected to put up a better fight against Canelo if he really faces Canelo than his twin.
Another name is Crawford. The boxer who is also unbeaten is a true welterweight champion (66 kg), with a record 40-0-0 (31 KOs). Crawford was once scheduled to face one of the Charlo brothers. But after Jermell was beaten by Canelo, Crawford tweeted on his Twitter account.
"Okay everyone, I'm done with the Charlo Twins. They're no longer on my waiting list. Charlo let Canelo beat him without a fight, as if he was beaten by his father," Crawford said in his tweet.
One obstacle that is a big obstacle to the Canelo vs Crawford duel is weight. Their class difference is too far away, and according to Showtime Sports president Stephen Espinosa, the duel was unfavorable to Canelo's reputation.
"Maybe it's a dancing plan, but the obstacle is very big, namely from class differences. Canelo was once invited to discuss the duel plan against Crawford, and he looked less happy. He said: Why did I do that?" Espinosa said.

In my opinion, Canelo knew he would not get public respect. He didn't want to be sneered at with satire, just dared to beat a little man. So Canelo is in a no win situation," said Espinosa again.
Canelo himself said he was ready to face anyone. But for now, all he has in mind is to relax.
"I always say, if the fight offered makes sense why not? But right now I don't want to talk about other matches. Let me rest and enjoy the day," said Canelo Alvarez.
