Bali Ngurah Rai Airport Police Arrest Project Workers With Methamphetamine
DENPASAR - The Narcotics Unit of the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Police, Bali, arrested a project worker with the initials W (33) from Blitar, East Java because he was found to be in possession of crystal methamphetamine.
Head of Narcotics Research Unit for I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Police, Inspector Nyoman Yasa, said the perpetrator, who lives in the Jimbaran area, Badung, was arrested in the Tuban area, Kuta District, Badung (18/9).
The perpetrator brought a package covered with black duct tape containing pieces of clear pipettes with white and yellow stripes.
Inside there was a plastic clip containing clear crystals which were suspected to contain narcotic preparations such as crystal methamphetamine weighing 0.30 grams gross or 0.20 grams net.
"Our members caught the perpetrator while he was passing by on a motorbike on the road in the Kelan area. "When the perpetrator stopped, his movements were seen to be suspicious, so in the end members carried out a body search and found the item which was suspected to be crystal methamphetamine", said Nyoman Yasa, Wednesday, September 27.
According to the perpetrator's confession, the item was his item which was purchased for IDR 350,000 from someone he did not know, because communication had been carried out via WhatsApp contact.
"The perpetrator communicated only via WhatsApp, he did not even know the appearance of the person he was making the transaction with", said Yasa.
Perpetrator W admitted that he had bought these illicit goods four times from the same person and that he first fell into drugs because of his friend's instigation.
For the perpetrator's actions, investigators have named him a suspect under Article 112 paragraph (1) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with the threat of imprisonment for a minimum of four years and a maximum of 12 years and a fine of at least IDR 800 million and a maximum a lot of IDR 8 billion.
"We have currently detained the perpetrator and placed him in the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Police Detention Center", said Inspector Nyoman Yasa.
