Odd-Even Engineering On Jabodebek LRT Line, DKI Provincial Government Waits For Final Results Of Study
JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Service, Syafrin Liputo, said he would study the proposal to implement odd-even on roads along the Jabodebek LRT crossing specifically for the DKI Jakarta area.
However, Syafrin admitted that a new study would be carried out when the Jabodebek LRT operates commercially. Currently, the Jabodebek LRT is still operating on a limited basis with promotional rates.
"Currently, the Jabodebek LRT fare is still a promotional fare of IDR 5 thousand. Of course, if we do a traffic analysis, it will certainly not be ideal. So, we are waiting for the commercial fare to come into effect," said Syafrin to journalists, on Tuesday, September 26.
When the government has operated the Jabodebek LRT commercially, the DKI Transportation Agency will only be able to analyze the traffic performance on the road sections crossed by the Jabodebek LRT to determine the urgency of the odd-even arrangement.
"Only at that time, we will carry out traffic analysis and see how the network works on the route parallel to the Jabodebek LRT," said Syafrin.
On the other hand, the DKI Provincial Government has also facilitated the integration of the Jabodebek LRT with Transjakarta stops. So, this makes it easier for people who use the LRT to continue their journey by changing public transportation modes.
"All 12 stations in the DKI Jakarta area have been integrated with Transjakarta services, whether using BRT (bus rapid transit), then also Minitrans or Microtrans," he explained.
Previously, DKI Jakarta DPRD Commission B Member M. Taufik Zoelkifli asked the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to add road sections that fall under the odd-even policy along the Jabodebek LRT route. This addition, according to Taufik, also needs to be complemented by adequate public transportation route coverage.
"I propose odd-even. Apart from that, I also arrange Transjakarta routes and JakLingko public transportation (Mikrotrans) along the Jabodebek LRT route," said Taufik on Thursday, September 21.
Taufik views that the odd-even proposal on the Jabodebek LRT route needs to be implemented in order to reduce traffic density in the capital city. At the same time, it can make people switch modes from private vehicles to public transportation.
"Yesterday at a meeting I spoke to the Head of the Transportation Service that it is necessary to adjust or re-engineer traffic after the Jabedebek LRT operates so that it optimally reduces congestion," he explained.
Taufik explained that the Transportation Service had accommodated this proposal and would review the effectiveness of traffic if odd-even on the Jabodebek LRT route was implemented.

The Jabodebek LRT, which is now operational, has 18 stations connecting the Jakarta, Depok and Bekasi areas. In the Jakarta area, the Jabodebek LRT route passes through a number of stations, namely Dukuh Atas, Setiabudi, Rasuna Said, Kuningan, Pancoran, Cikoko, Ciliwung, Cawang, TMII, Kampung Rambutan, Ciracas, and Halim.
